Collection: 📚 St. Francis of Paola

St. Francis of Paola was an Italian hermit and founder of the Order of Minims, known for his extraordinary austerity, humility, and miraculous works. Born in Paola, Calabria, to parents who had prayed for the intercession of St. Francis of Assisi to obtain a child, he showed signs of holiness from an early age. As a young man, he embraced a life of solitude and penance, attracting followers who desired to imitate his devotion and simplicity.

The community that formed around him eventually became the Order of Minims, whose members took an additional vow of perpetual Lenten living, committing themselves to a life of great simplicity and abstinence. Francis became renowned throughout Europe as a miracle worker, counselor, and man of prayer. Near the end of his life, he was invited by King Louis XI of France to serve as his spiritual advisor. Despite his fame, Francis remained devoted to humility and penance until his death.
