St. Scholastica
St. Scholastica was a 6th-century Italian nun and the twin sister of St. Benedict, founder of Western monasticism. Born around 480 in Nursia, Italy, she dedicated her life to God from an early age and later founded a convent near her brother’s monastery at Monte Cassino. The two shared a deep spiritual bond and often met to discuss faith and prayer. St. Scholastica is best remembered for her profound love of God and for the miraculous storm that occurred when she prayed to prolong one of her last visits with her brother. She is honored as a model of prayer, sisterly love, and devotion.
