St. Teresa of Ávila, also known as St. Teresa of Jesus, was a 16th-century Spanish mystic, Carmelite nun, and reformer of the Carmelite Order. Born in 1515 in Ávila, Spain, she entered religious life at a young age and devoted herself to prayer, contemplation, and the spiritual renewal of her convents. St. Teresa is renowned for her mystical writings, including The Interior Castle and The Way of Perfection, which continue to guide Christians in deepening their relationship with God. She was canonized in 1622 and later declared a Doctor of the Church for her profound theological insights and spiritual teachings.
