Our Lady of Mount Carmel is a cherished title of the Blessed Virgin Mary associated with the Order of Carmelites, whose origins trace back to hermits living on Mount Carmel in the Holy Land during the twelfth century. Inspired by the prophet Elijah's life of prayer, these hermits built a chapel dedicated to the Blessed Virgin and entrusted themselves to her maternal care.

According to Carmelite tradition, on July 16, 1251, the Blessed Virgin Mary appeared to St. Simon Stock and presented him with the Brown Scapular, saying that it would be a sign of her protection for those who wore it with faith and lived a Christian life. The Brown Scapular has since become one of the Church's most beloved sacramentals, symbolizing devotion to Mary, commitment to Christ, and the call to holiness.

Devotion to Our Lady of Mount Carmel emphasizes Mary's maternal guidance, her constant intercession, and the hope of eternal life.
