St. Nicholas
St. Nicholas was a 4th-century bishop of Myra, in present-day Turkey, known for his deep faith, compassion, and generosity. Born into a wealthy Christian family, he dedicated his life and inheritance to helping those in need. Many stories tell of his secret acts of kindness, including providing dowries for poor young women and saving sailors in peril. His love for children and concern for the poor made him one of the most beloved saints in the Church. Over the centuries, his spirit of giving inspired many traditions around the world, including the modern figure of Santa Claus.
