📚 St. Maria Goretti

St. Maria Goretti was a young Italian virgin and martyr remembered for her purity, forgiveness, and heroic Christian virtue. Born into a poor farming family, she was known for her deep love of God, devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary, and willingness to help her family with household responsibilities after her father's death.

At the age of eleven, Maria was attacked by a young man named Alessandro Serenelli, who attempted to force himself upon her. Refusing to sin, she courageously resisted and pleaded with him to turn away from evil. In a violent rage, he stabbed her multiple times. Before dying the following day, Maria forgave her attacker, saying that she wanted him to be with her in Heaven.

Alessandro later experienced a profound conversion, inspired in part by a dream in which Maria offered him lilies as a sign of forgiveness. After his release from prison, he publicly repented and attended Maria's canonization alongside her mother. St. Maria Goretti's life continues to inspire Christians to practice purity, mercy, and forgiveness even in the face of great suffering.
