Our Lady of Loreto
Our Lady of Loreto is a title of the Blessed Virgin Mary associated with the Holy House of Loreto, believed to be the home in Nazareth where Mary was born and where the Angel Gabriel announced the Incarnation. According to tradition, the Holy House was miraculously transported by angels from the Holy Land to Loreto, Italy, in the 13th century to preserve it from destruction. The shrine at Loreto quickly became a major pilgrimage site, inspiring devotion to the mystery of the Incarnation and the holiness of family life. Our Lady of Loreto is honored as a protector of travelers and aviators, and as a model of faith and humility.
