St. Zélie Martin was a 19th-century French laywoman, mother, and entrepreneur, best known as the mother of St. Thérèse of Lisieux. Born in 1831 in Alençon, France, she was a skilled lace maker and ran a successful lace business, supporting her family while living a life of deep faith and devotion. Zélie and her husband, Louis Martin, raised a holy family, emphasizing prayer, virtue, and service to God. After her death in 1877, she was honored for her holiness, maternal love, and dedication to family life. St. Zélie Martin is remembered as a model of Christian motherhood, hard work, and sanctity in daily life.
