📚 Immaculate Heart of Mary

The Immaculate Heart of Mary is a Catholic devotion honoring the interior life of the Blessed Virgin Mary—her perfect love for God, purity, humility, and maternal care for all people. The Heart of Mary is traditionally depicted pierced by a sword, recalling the prophecy of Simeon that “a sword will pierce your own soul also” (Luke 2:35), and adorned with roses, symbolizing her virtues and love.

This devotion focuses on Mary's union with her Son, Jesus Christ, and her faithful cooperation in God's plan of salvation. The Church venerates her Immaculate Heart as a model of holiness, obedience, and trust in God. Devotion to the Immaculate Heart grew steadily through the centuries and received particular prominence through the apparitions of Our Lady at Fátima in 1917, where the Blessed Virgin called for prayer, repentance, and devotion to her Immaculate Heart.

The Memorial of the Immaculate Heart of Mary is celebrated on the Saturday following the Solemnity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, emphasizing the close spiritual union between the Hearts of Jesus and Mary.
