St. Paul of the Cross
St. Paul of the Cross was an 18th-century Italian priest and mystic, known for his deep devotion to the Passion of Jesus and for founding the Passionist Congregation. Born in 1694 in northern Italy, he devoted his life to prayer, preaching, and spreading devotion to the Passion of Christ. St. Paul emphasized simplicity, penance, and contemplation, inspiring others to grow closer to God through prayer and acts of love. He traveled extensively, preaching missions and retreats, and his writings continue to guide people in living a life centered on the suffering and love of Christ.
