St. Simon Stock was a 13th-century English Carmelite friar known for his deep devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary and his role in spreading the Carmelite Order throughout Europe. Born around 1165 in England, he lived a life of prayer and penance, dedicating himself to God from an early age. Tradition holds that the Virgin Mary appeared to him and gave him the Brown Scapular, promising her special protection to all who wear it with devotion. St. Simon worked tirelessly to guide and strengthen the Carmelite community, inspiring greater devotion to Mary and trust in her intercession.
