St. Sophia
St. Sophia was a 2nd-century Christian widow and martyr, venerated for her steadfast faith and the courage of her three daughters—Faith, Hope, and Charity (or Love)—who were also martyred for Christ. Sophia’s name means “wisdom,” reflecting her deep spiritual understanding and trust in God. After witnessing the suffering and martyrdom of her daughters under the Roman Emperor Hadrian, she remained strong in her faith, offering her own life in prayer and sorrow. St. Sophia is honored as a model of Christian motherhood, perseverance, and spiritual wisdom.
