Collection: Bible: Christian Community Bible (CCB)

The Christian Community Bible (CCB) is a Catholic edition of the Bible known for its pastoral commentary, simple language, and accessibility—especially for readers who are new to Scripture or seeking practical spiritual guidance. It was developed to make the Word of God easier to understand in everyday life, with explanations that connect Scripture to social justice, community life, and personal faith.

Originally prepared by missionary priest Bernardo Hurault along with Federico Barbero, the CCB was first published in the late 20th century and has since been translated into many languages, widely used in developing countries and missionary settings.

The Christian Community Bible has received imprimatur and nihil obstat in various editions, meaning it has been reviewed and approved for Catholic use by Church laity. However, it is not a formal liturgical translation used at Mass.
