Collection: 📚 St. Germaine Cousin

St. Germaine Cousin was a humble French shepherdess whose life of suffering, patience, and deep faith made her a powerful witness to Christian holiness. Born near Toulouse, France, she was afflicted from childhood with a disability in one arm and suffered from scrofula, a serious illness. After the death of her mother, she endured neglect and mistreatment from her stepmother, who forced her to live apart from the family and tend sheep under harsh conditions.

Despite these hardships, Germaine remained cheerful, prayerful, and devoted to God. She attended Mass whenever possible, prayed the Rosary faithfully, and shared what little food she had with those poorer than herself. Tradition recounts several miracles associated with her life, including the parting of a flooded stream so she could attend church and flowers appearing in her apron when accused of stealing bread she had intended for the poor.

After her death, devotion to Germaine spread because of the incorrupt condition of her body and numerous reported miracles attributed to her intercession. She remains an inspiring example of holiness found in ordinary life and patient endurance of suffering.
