Collection: 📚 St. Isidore of Seville

St. Isidore of Seville was a Spanish bishop, theologian, and scholar whose writings helped preserve and transmit much of the learning of the ancient world during the early Middle Ages. Born into a holy family in Cartagena, Spain, he succeeded his brother, St. Leander, as Archbishop of Seville and became one of the most influential churchmen of his age.

Isidore worked tirelessly to strengthen Catholic education, promote clerical formation, and unify the Church in Spain. His most famous work, the Etymologiae, was an extensive encyclopedia that gathered knowledge from Scripture, theology, history, science, language, and classical literature. For centuries it served as one of the most important reference works in Europe. Because of his dedication to learning and the organization of knowledge, he is often associated with students, educators, and modern communications technology.
