Collection: 📚 St. Thomas the Apostle
St. Thomas the Apostle, also called Didymus ("Twin"), was one of the Twelve Apostles chosen by Jesus Christ. He is best known for initially doubting the Resurrection, declaring that he would not believe until he saw and touched Christ's wounds. When the risen Lord appeared to him, Thomas made one of the clearest professions of faith in the New Testament, proclaiming, "My Lord and my God!" (John 20:28).
After Pentecost, according to ancient Christian tradition, Thomas carried the Gospel eastward, preaching in Persia and eventually reaching India. He is credited with founding Christian communities along the Malabar Coast, where the ancient St. Thomas Christians trace their origins to his missionary work. His zeal for evangelization and unwavering witness helped spread Christianity far beyond the Roman Empire.
Thomas was eventually martyred for the faith, traditionally by being pierced with a spear near Mylapore, in present-day Chennai, India. His life demonstrates that sincere questioning, when met with Christ's grace, can lead to profound faith and courageous discipleship.
