USA to Be Consecrated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, June 11
Share
On June 11, the Catholic bishops of the United States will formally consecrate our nation to the Sacred Heart of Jesus in honor of America's 250th anniversary. This historic act will be the first formal national consecration of the United States to the Sacred Heart.
The bishops have identified three primary intentions for this consecration:
- To place our nation under the loving kingship and providence of Jesus Christ.
- To make reparation for sins and offenses against God throughout our nation's history.
- To inspire greater charity, mercy, and care for the poor and suffering.
The consecration reflects the Church's long-standing devotion to the Sacred Heart, which emphasizes Christ's love, mercy, healing, and reconciliation. Catholics throughout the country are encouraged to participate through prayer, Eucharistic adoration, works of mercy, and personal, family, parish, or diocesan consecrations.
The national consecration will take place at Mary, Queen of the Universe Basilica in Orlando, Florida, and will be livestreamed on the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops website.
May this special moment renew our trust in the Sacred Heart of Jesus and inspire our nation to seek His mercy, justice, and peace.
