Collection: ㅤSt. Leo the Great, Pope
St. Leo the Great was a pope in the 5th century who is remembered for his profound theological writings, leadership during pivotal moments in Church history, and his efforts to define and defend the nature of Christ. As pope, he worked tirelessly to protect the unity of the Church, emphasizing the importance of papal authority and the role of the pope in guiding the faithful. St. Leo played a key role in the Council of Chalcedon (451 AD), where the doctrine of the two natures of Christ—divine and human—was defined. His leadership during times of political and theological turbulence, including repelling the invasion of Rome by Attila the Hun, solidified his legacy as one of the great popes in Church history.
