St. John Neumann was a Bohemian-born priest who became the fourth bishop of Philadelphia and the first U.S. bishop to be canonized. Known for his humility and tireless work, he established the Catholic parochial school system in the United States, significantly expanding access to Catholic education. Fluent in multiple languages, he ministered to immigrant communities and founded the first diocesan Catholic school system, leaving a lasting impact on the American Church.
