Born in 1647, she entered the Visitation Order and soon began experiencing profound mystical visions of Christ, during which He revealed to her His Sacred Heart as a symbol of His boundless love for humanity. St. Margaret Mary’s devotion to the Sacred Heart spread widely due to her unwavering dedication to this spiritual practice, particularly the First Friday devotions and the feast day of the Sacred Heart. Despite initial opposition and skepticism from her fellow nuns, her mission to spread this devotion became a significant part of Catholic spirituality.
