St. Aloysius Gonzaga was an Italian Jesuit known for his deep piety and commitment to the religious life from a young age. Despite coming from a noble family, he chose to enter the Society of Jesus and dedicated himself to the service of the poor and sick, including during an epidemic in Rome where he ultimately contracted the disease and died at the age of 23. His life of purity and devotion made him a model of youthful sanctity.
